Newborn Hospital sessions are my very favorite, I love photographing families in a natural photo-journalistic style, I love capturing those first moments of pure bliss and having that special day documented by a professional photographer is priceless! Birth photography is usually shown in black & white because babies can be a bit purple in color when first born and also a bit red later. Yet, I love the images in color too! Photography for me is all about remembering all the details of life, time passes so quickly, babies grow way too fast and being able to reflect on the memories through photographs is so important.
I have had the privilege of photographing many births over the past 14 years. I've photographed natural births and cesarean sections. I'm very comfortable in this environment and nothing phases me or makes me squeamish. I do get teary and emotional, it such an incredible experience to witness a little soul entering the world!
My approach to photographing a birth is very documentary style, I like to be inconspicuous and I try to use natural light or available light as much as possible. Birth photography is something I've been wanting to offer for quite some time, birth can be very unpredictable and I would have to be available at all hours of the night. I feel that I am now ready for this commitment, but I will only be available for one birth per month. Newborn Birth Photographer in Olympia....
The birth of a baby is one of the most incredible life changing moments of your life. To have your birth photographed is very special and unique. I have over 14 years experience in photographing births, in addition to my own 3 birth experiences. My first birth was natural and un-medicated, although it was very traumatic, my baby had shoulder dystocia. My second birth was an emergency cesarean at 36 weeks, because my baby was born 4 weeks early he had to spend a week in the ni-cu with "preemie" complications. My third birth was also a cesarean at full term. I'm very excited to now offer birth photography in Olympia! I will only be available for one birth per month so that I can be 100% available to that client.
